Singer Michael Jackson died on Thursday after being in coma in a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a cardiac arrest, according to reports.

The L.A. Times and AP reported he died, citing official sources Web site TMZ first reported the singer's death, citing an anonymous source.

Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times, writes the newspaper.

CNN had not independently confirmed Jackson is dead as of 3:37 p.m. EST.

Jackson reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest earlier Thursday at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him.

Fans and media were gathered at the hospital and the singer's house by 3:34 p.m. PST.
