Michael Jackson fans attending the memorial are asked to contribute financially to help the cash strapped state off-set some of the memorial cots.

Los Angeles mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, asked fans to chip in and offset the $4 million it will cost the city in costs related to the King of Pop's funeral and memorial, TMZ reported.

The memorial service is set for 1pm PST this afternoon at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
