Micron Technology, Inc. and IDT (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.) has entered into an agreement to create Solid-State Drive (SSD) technologies.

IDT is provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience based in San Jose, CA while Micron, provides of semiconductor solutions. The combination of the two firms will be an outstanding joint force to bring out new (SSD) technologies.

“Our alliance with Micron, together with their enterprise flash products will, in the future, supply the industry with PCIe-based solid-state drive solutions with unparalleled performance and reliability,” said Mario Montana, vice president and general manager of the IDT Enterprise Computing Division.

The two firms will co-develop enterprise flash controllers with a PCIe host host interface optimized for Micron’s flash devices and future generation RealSSD solid-state drives.

The joint collaboration will output PCI Express Solid-State Drive (SSD) technologies for the server, storage and embedded markets.

“As the NAND landscape continues to evolve with application requirements and process advancements, it’s important that we ensure the interface options align with the technology,” said Dean Klein, vice president of memory system development at Micron.
