A new Borderlands 2 trailer has been released, and the game is expected to come out in September.

The highly-anticipated video game, by Gearbox Software and 2K Games, is slated to blast into the gaming scene, bringing a game that lives up to the mantra 'bigger, better and more badass,' according to a statement released by its developers Wednesday morning:

Borderlands 2 features all-new characters; skills; imaginative, diverse new environments with unique missions and enemies; and more exciting and fun weapons, equipment and loot than ever before. All of these features come together in a story that takes players to the world of Pandora to take down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation as a solo campaign or with up to four cooperative players, the statement announces, while the description of the game's trailer on YouTube states that Borderlands 2 kicks off a new era of Shoot and Loot on September 18th in the US and September 21st Internationally!

Borderlands 2 comes on the heels of the multi-million-selling mega-hit game Borderlands, which introduced gamers to Pandora, Hyperion and all the fun that come with them.

According to the trailer, the game will be violent to the extreme: 87 bazillion guns just got bazilliondier, which is sure to excite fans of the first game. Though the game trailer's animation style remains cartoonish and similar to that of a comic book, there is enough gore and shooting to go around.

Described as a critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay, the first game was a blockbuster, and this one follows in the path it blazed.

And the game is already available for pre-order. Anyone who pre-orders the new Borderlands 2 title from participating retailers will receive access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, including rewarding in-game items and bonuses.

Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, gave his opinions on the game in the company's statement accompanying the new Borderlands 2 trailer release:

The addictive gameplay and shooting and looting mayhem of the first Borderlands is back and better than ever in Borderlands 2, taking the franchise to an entirely new level, said Hartmann. With more guns, more enemies, more missions, an engaging story and all-new characters, Borderlands 2 promises to bring a new era to gaming this fall.

And Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, had more encouraging words about the sophomore entry in the Borderlands series:

Borderlands 2 is a passion project, through and through, said Pitchford. The result is a sequel that has improved every successful aspect of Borderlands while innovating with an all-new experience.
