Orphan Black Season 3 teaser
The new "Orphan Black" Season 3 trailer might hint at Sarah (Tatiana Maslany, top) and Rachel's (Tatiana Maslany, bottom) future. BBC America

“Orphan Black” fans have been waiting since June for their first look at Season 3. However, the first teaser trailer might not give them everything they wanted—such as actual footage.

Fans hoping for the first glimpse of Tatiana Maslany as Sarah, Cosima, Alison, Rachel or Helena may have been disappointed that the Season 3 trailer was 20 seconds of animation. The trailer shows cells multiplying to the tune of Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me.” The cells fade into a double helix in the middle of the “Orphan Black” logo.

The song is where fans, a.k.a. clone clubbers, can look for Season 3 spoilers. Obviously, the women of “Orphan Black” have been fighting DYAD to control their own rights and bodies, so “You Don’t Own Me” is more than appropriate. The very end of the clip is where the “Orphan Black” creative team altered the song. It repeats the line “I’m not just one” several times, like a record skipping. The song skips exactly four and a half times. We know four original Project Leda clones (Sarah, Alison, Cosima and Helena) are alive, but we don’t know if Rachel made it after taking a pencil to the eye. She was also missing from the premiere synopsis. At the very least, the lyric likely means that we’ll be seeing more clones this year.

However, fans don’t know which clones will be introduced. The trailer might not refer to Tatiana Maslany’s Project Leda clones anymore. At the end of “Orphan Black” Season 2, Ari Millen’s character Mark was revealed to be a Project Castor clone. Millen will return for Season 3, likely in a few new roles.

“Orphan Black” Season 3 will return to BBC America in Spring 2015. Do you think we’ll meet more Project Leda clones or more Project Castor clones? Both? Sound off in the comments section below!
