German manufacturer Mercedes Benz will be introducing a new open top version of its SLS AMG super car.

The SLS Roadster is a super sports car, cruiser and highly desirable dream-car all in one. In its distinctive way, it continues the succession of iconic and exciting sports cars from Mercedes-Benz, says Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes.

The car packs the same engine as the one fitted on the regular model, propelling the car the Roadster from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, and tops at 197 mph (electronically limited).

The main difference between the two model is the different interpretations of the roof.

In the Roadster, the retractable roof is a three-layered fabric soft top that emerges from behind the seats. The roof can be opened and closed in 11 seconds and at speeds of up to 50 km/h (31 mph).

The model is fitted with the new Adaptive AMG Sport Suspension with electronically controlled damping, enabling the damping characteristics to be modified in three modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport plus.

The car will be available this fall.
