New Pop-Tarts Flavors
Kellogg Company has unveiled two new flavors of its hit breakfast snack Pop-Tarts for peanut butter lovers: Gone Nutty Peanut Butter and Gone Nutty Chocolate Peanut Butter. Kellogg Company

Kellogg Company has introduced two new Pop-Tart flavors for peanut butter lovers.

The two new flavors -- Gone Nutty Peanut Butter and Gone Nutty Chocolate Peanut Butter -- are available now on store shelves and the snacks will be wrapped in gold foil instead of silver, the Battle Creek, Mich.-based company said. This marks the first time in 27 years that Pop-Tarts will be available in peanut butter flavors since the Peanut Butter & Jelly Pop-Tart was discontinued in 1986.

"Peanut butter has long been the most requested flavor by our fans," Pop-Tarts director of marketing Dick Podiak said in a statement.

Research firm Zacks said it believes that Kellogg is introducing these new flavors to appeal to teens and will “likely benefit from the introduction of new flavors” in the remaining quarters of 2013.

On the company's website, Kellogg described its new Gone Nutty Peanut Butter Pop-Tart as a “crunchy peanut butter-flavored crust enveloping a filling made with real, creamy peanut butter and sprinkled with sugar." The Chocolate Peanut Butter Pop-Tart has chocolate frosting instead of sugar sprinkled on top.

Kellogg first announced a “secret” via Facebook last week after asking for 25,000 “likes” in exchange for divulging the secret. After it announced the new Pop-Tart flavors, the company said that it planned to travel across the country in a toaster-shaped truck to hand out free samples of the treats as part of its promotion.
