Amy Schumer has been having a banner year and her successful comedy career has included everything but being a guest on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." That will change Monday, as Schumer's appearance opens the farewell week of Jon Stewart's tenure as "The Daily Show" host.

Schumer has her own hit show on Comedy Central, "Inside Amy Schumer," and her most recent movie, "Trainwreck," was in sixth place at the box office in its third week of release. The film, which she wrote, has grossed $80 million globally to date, according to Box Office Mojo. Schumer hosted the 2015 MTV Movie Awards and has appeared in "Louie," "Girls" and the Comedy Central Roasts of Charlie Sheen and Roseanne Barr. "Inside Amy Schumer" won a Peabody Award in 2014 and is nominated for 4 Emmy Awards.

When Schumer isn't making comedy that's equal parts hilarious and thoughtful, she's championing worthwhile causes. Schumer early Monday announced a gun control campaign with her cousin Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., in the wake of the July 23 shooting during a screening of "Trainwreck" in Lafayette, Louisiana, that killed two people and injured nine others. The shooter, John Russell Houser, committed suicide.

Prior to Schumer's appearance, "Trainwreck" director Judd Apatow was on "The Daily Show" to discuss the movie and his new book. Schumer was also approached by Comedy Central to take over for Stewart. "I thought, ‘Well, I could give everyone I love a job, and we could all be together for five years. But picturing being in a building and knowing what I was going to do for five years.... I love not knowing. And I’ve never done anything safe or to make money for that reason. So, you know, I said, ‘I can’t start now,'" Schumer said in an interview with the Daily Beast on why she turned down the role.

We don't know what to expect from her "Daily Show" appearance, but it'll probably be hilarious.
