Qannik was shipped on a UPS Boeing 747-400 from her temporary digs at the Alaska Zoo to the Glacier Run development at the Louisville Zoo in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 28, 2011.
An adult male polar bear weighs around 350-680 kg (770-1,500 lb) while an adult female is about half that size.
The polar bear is classified as a vulnerable species with 8 of the 19 polar bear subpopulations in decline, according to IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group.
