Security officials feared a man might be carrying an explosive package, delaying passengers at LAX terminals on Tuesday.

A hand-luggage scanner apparently malfunctioned moments after the man’s items passed through the device. Security officers were concerned that the luggage triggered the malfunction and searched for the passenger inside the terminal.
The scanner was later restored by TSA (Transportation Security Administration) staffers, and the passenger’s luggage was seemed safe by the bomb squad who was called to the scene.

The alert was eventually canceled.
