Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he announced at a press conference in Hartford on Friday.

The Democratic senator, 65, said recovery rates for the ailment are very high at about 97 percent.

I feel very confident he said Friday.

The New York Times reported his condition was detected through a regular screening.
