Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said Sunday they have evidence that the runaway balloon incident was a hoax and a publicity stunt that was done in order to get the family a reality show.

Sheriff Alderden says they plan on filing charges against Richard Heene and his wife, Mayumi Heene soon. The charge they face is of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the Associated Press.

The other potential charges could be conspiracy, false reporting and attempt to influence an officer.The most significant charges they face could result in a 2-5 year sentence.
