The news of Simon Cowell expecting a baby with New York socialite, Lauren Silverman, has not gone down well with his former flames, according to a Daily Mail report.
Citing a message posted by Sinitta, a Cowell confidante, close friend and former lover, the Daily Mail reported that she was less than happy with the news, because just two days before the news broke, she tweeted saying, “Something has just happened ..half miracle, half nightmare! #WakeMeUpIWantToGetOff!!”
The report added that the tweet appears to be an indication of the talent judge’s impending parenthood.
According to reports, Sinitta joins a host of Cowell’s other female friends, which include Mezhgan Hussainy, Terri Seymour and Jackie St Clair, who are unhappy with the news.
“Simon is in no doubt the child is his,” a close friend of Cowell’s told the Daily Mail. “The other girls can’t believe that she is the one who has [got his baby]. They’ve all met her, they know who she is and they have been reduced to tears by this.”
Silverman is married to one of Cowell’s close friends, Andrew Silverman, and she is believed to have met Cowell while vacationing in Barbados a few years back. She is said to be 10 weeks along now, and had been dating Cowell for the past one year, reports said.
Silverman is still technically married to her real estate mogul husband, who filed for divorce earlier this month. It is not yet known if Silverman’s pregnancy is what prompted Andrew to start divorce proceedings, but a source close to the socialite thinks otherwise.
“Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while,” a source told Us Weekly. “As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close.”
But, Silverman is open to the idea of marrying Cowell and has even expressed her desire to do so a number of times, a friend of Silverman’s told the Daily Mail. “Lauren loves Simon, she says that she wants to marry him. And with the baby, she's going the right way about it!”
