Palm Inc.'s (NASDAQ: PALM) Treo branded smartphone will be available on SingTel Ltd wireless services, the companies announced on Thursday, bringing the smartphone to Singapore for the first time.

The Treo 680 features software tailored for business users, including the ability to receive email and manage schedules. Combined with SingTel's data backbone, users who purchase the phone will be able to receive and send Outlook email, calendar information and contacts.

The Treo 680 smartphone is reaching new customers and markets, exemplifying Palm's dedication to expanding both geographically and demographically, said John Hartnett, senior vice president, global markets, Palm, Inc. Its affordability, ease of use and style are attracting new users in the smartphone and feature-phone markets.

Known for its ease-of-use, Palm's Treo 680 will run on the Palm operating system - software first pioneered in Palm's Pilot line of personal digital assistants.

Shares of Palm were up 7 cents, or 0.51 percent, to $13.93 in Friday morning trading on the Nasdaq exchange.
