Stock index futures briefly pared losses further on Thursday after Labor Department data showed new claims for unemployment benefits fell by 15,000 last week.

S&P 500 futures shed 4.3 points and were below fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration of the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures lost 55 points and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.75 point.
