supernatural season 11 spoilers
Fans got a first look of Sam (Jared Padalecki, left) and Dean (Jensen Ackles, right) in Season 11 of "Supernatural." The CW

Things aren’t looking too good for our favorite Winchester brothers. According to reports, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) will be coming face-to-face with their biggest enemy yet when “Supernatural” returns for Season 11 in October.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ackles divulged chilling details about the upcoming installment’s new "big bad," which was released into the world during the CW’s dramatic Season 10 finale. In episode 23, titled “Brother’s Keep,” the Darkness, which is an evil, pre-Biblical force, was released from its captivity following the destruction of the Mark.

As the wickedness began to submerge the earth in the finale, viewers watched helplessly as their favorite siblings attempted to escape the gloom. But, ultimately, the boys were swallowed whole by the rolling waves of darkness. However, it looks like the two managed to escape the primordial entity, which will be taking the shape of a human when Season 11 debuts.

“As of right now we have it built as one specific entity, obviously that would be a character that we’re introducing,” Ackles teased of the new character. “But whatever the reach of that character, what that character can do, we’re not quite sure of.”

What Ackles is sure of is that the villain will take the form of a woman. “We don’t know the scope of her powers,” he said, adding that what makes their newest foe so interesting it that she’s “not really a monster.”

“It’s more of a primal force that we know nothing about. There’s no lore; there’s no guidebook; there’s no instruction manual on how to deal with this,” he explained.

Audiences got a first look at how unprepared our beloved boys are when TVLine released cringe-worthy photos from the upcoming season.

In the images above, fans see Sam with a worried look on his face, accessorized with a black eye. But Sam’s bruised body is nothing compared to Castiel’s (Misha Collins) bloodied one. The angel can be seen with eyes that are dripping blood as he angrily makes his way around an abandoned building with a knife. Looks like the Darkness isn’t the only thing the Winchesters should be fearful of in Season 11.

“Supernatural” will air its Season 11 premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
