According to MSN, a teacher in Scotland used a terrible excuse to get out of going to work. After using some smaller, sillier lies to get out of work, Derek McGlone said he ran over a small girl. This all occurred in the town of Shotts, where McGlone is a high school music teacher.

Joyce Kilmartin, head teacher at Calderhead High School in Shotts, according to UPI.com, stated that "He started off telling a few silly lies. He then lied about knocking a girl over and killing her -- he said he felt his car wheels running over her body."

After a hearing with the General Teaching Council Scotland, McGlone was punished with a twelve month suspension in his teaching license, essentially rendering him unable to teach. He will also have a mark against him on his teaching record.

McGlone said he was "embarrassed and sorry" for his actions, "I can give no reasonable explanation for my actions."
