Terrafugia Inc., an aircraft company, announced the successful seven flights of its Transition Roadable Aircraft.

Terrafugia claims that its Transition Roadable Aircraft Proof of Concept can change from plane to car within just 30 seconds. The Transition is a two-seater that can take off and land at local airports as well as drive on any road.

For its first flight, the Transition was flown by Phil Meteer, Colonel, USAFR (Retired) at Plattsburgh International Airport in Plattsburgh, NY.

The March 5 to 7 test flights involved taking off and landing in a straight line, all within the runway space, Meteer piloted the Transition for a 37-second test flight at 3,000 feet above the Plattsburgh International Airport in New York, according to the company

This breakthrough changes the world of personal mobility. Travel now becomes a hassle-free integrated land-air experience. It's what aviation enthusiasts have been striving for since 1918, says Carl Dietrich, CEO of Terrafugia.

It can fly at 451 miles above the ground at a speed of 115 miles per hour and has been tested over the last six months. The company has received more than 40 orders, each with a refundable $10,000 down payment. More test flights are necessary before the $194,000 vehicle will be ready for production.
