Tom Cruise who plays an anti-Hitler plotter in his new movie Valkyrie said that he grew up wanting to kill the Nazi leader.

I always wanted to kill Hitler, I hated him. As a child, I used to wonder why someone didn't stand up and try to stop it?, Cruise told reporters in the South Korean capital Sunday.

The film is based on a true story. Cruise plays Col. Claus Von Stauffenberg a German solider who plants a briefcase bomb under a table at Hitler's military headquarters.

The movie had a solid $21.5 million opening weekend in North America in December despite early skepticism.
