Jane Fonda dazzled at the premiere of the film “Youth” held at the Toronto Film Festival Saturday. The 77-year-old actress looked stunning as she walked the red carpet in a golden gown by Yves Saint Laurent.
She wore the one-of-a-kind, golden brocade gown for her red carpet appearance, which also marked the debut red carpet outing of the French design house’s recently relaunched couture line.
The gold leopard-print column dress featured fine detailing, pale gold satin lining and open back. The floor-length form-fitting gown featured long sleeves with shoulder pad detailing. Fonda’s stylist Tanya Gill added a pair of pointed-toe gold Christian Louboutin pumps to the look.
She also accessorized Fonda with 69-carat Chopard jewels that included a statement necklace and matching long earrings. Fonda carried a Saint Laurent box clutch in gold with a matching chain.
“Jane can really carry off an incredible outfit. She looked absolutely amazing in the dress,” said Gill. She added that the actress only wore two-inch kitten heels and they were lucky to have found the perfect ones for her.
The actress’s short blonde locks were perfectly highlighted, adding lots of volume, by hairstylist Roy Teeulek. Her flawless makeup consisted of mascara, blush and pink lipstick, Pink Obsession by L'Oreal Paris. The actress is a spokesperson for the cosmetic brand.
The dress that Fonda wore was numbered 00007, meaning it was the seventh dress to be put into production from the newly revived line, with the preceding six dresses said to have been worn at private events.
Saint Laurent couture’s return was announced this year after a 13 year hiatus, the last couture collection having been shown in 2002 while the late Saint Laurent himself was at the helm. Hedi Slimane is now the creative director of the French fashion house and is offering it couture collection exclusive. The designs will only be offered on appointment to ‘friends of the house’.
Meanwhile, Fonda is known for her mastery in red-carpet dressing, because of which she was chosen to be the first to wear the new Saint Laurent couture label for a red-carpet appearance. The star was at the Toronto Film Festival to promote her film “Youth” that also stars Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel.
