U.S. and Chinese standards groups are collaborating to launch a standards Web site designed to boost trade between the two countries.

The site will provide a database of 2,000 standards in Mandarin and English as well as nearly 300,000 other international standards and guidelines.

The project was funded by a joint venture between the standardization institutes of both countries. The American National Standards Institute and the Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) worked with the Standardization Administration of China.

U.S. officials said the initiative will help Chinese manufacturers meet U.S regulations for products imported to America.
