Spending by U.S. residents edged up slightly in April while incomes crept up even more modestly, the Commerce Department said Friday.

Personal spending rose 0.3 percent and incomes were up 0.2 percent, the former meeting expectations and the latter missing expectations. Revised data March left personal spending at 0.2 percent, down from the initial 0.3 percent. Revised data for the first quarter showed personal spending up 2.7 percent, down from the initial 2.9 percent gain.
