Vanessa Minnillo and former 98 Degrees star Nick Lachey appear on the cover of Parents magazine for their June 2014 with their 20-month-old son Camden. The model talks about her family life and how she keeps her romance with her husband alive.
Minnillo said she is a “family first” lady but their son is not welcome in their bed. “When you’ve got the little one between you,” she told the parenting magazine via Us Weekly, “it’s not as romantic as when the two of you are alone.”
Minnillo, 33, told the magazine she has a favorite nighttime ritual with her lover. “We put on some music or a favorite TV show, pour a glass of wine, have dinner — that’s our ‘alone time,’” she said. “That’s why it was so important to us to establish Camden’s sleep schedule right out of the gate. I had six different moms telling me, ‘Get him on a routine; you will thank yourself later.’” They put the little one to bed at 7:30, she said.
"My wife's maternal side is a new dynamic to her personality," Lachey, 40, gushed. "It's definitely made her even sexier."
The two talked about one of the first times they met, when Minnillo appeared in Lachey's video “What’s Left of Me” in 2006. The song came out after his split from ex-wife Jessica Simpson, but the model helped get his mind off the blonde fashionista with some skimpy attire.
"Apparently Nick had wardrobe approval, because I was wearing this little dress that was actually a shirt," Minnillo joked. He responded: "It was a dress as far as I was concerned."
Joking aside, one of the most important lessons Lachey wants to teach his son about relationships is “to respect all women.” He added: "Including his mother and his sister, if he ever has one."
