U.S. stocks opened little changed on Tuesday as many investors, cautious about global crises, bided their time before the quarter's end.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> slipped 1.51 points, or 0.01 percent, to 12,196.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 0.59 point, or 0.05 percent, to 1,309.60. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> edged down 2.31 points, or 0.08 percent, to 2,728.37.
