Will Ferrell has agreed to appear in the NBC comic The Office. He has committed to four episodes and will act as a visiting manager from the corporate office.

His character will be as cranky and unsuitable as Steve Carell’s Michael Scott. It is reported that Ferrell called the producers himself as he is a great fan of the series and wanted to be a part of Steve Carell’s final season.

His character will act as a bridge between Steve’s departure and maybe the appearance of a new branch manager. His commitment is to appear in one more show after Steve’s final exit.
The network has not yet revealed when they will air the episodes.

Ferrell and Carell are close friends and they co-starred in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy where Steve played the slightly dumb weather man to Ferrell’s title character.

“We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star,” executive producer Paul Lieberstein said in a statement. “We are proud to continue ‘The Office’s’ tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.”

Ferrell is not new to television and he launched his career at NBC’s Saturday Night Live and he has also appeared in other shows of the network like 30 Rock. Ferrell produces Eastbound & Down for HBO .
