A recent swirl of newspaper acquisitions has begun to fuel speculation the Sulzberger family may sell the New York Times.

Recently, Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos announced he purchased The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO) for $250 million. IBT Media said it reached a deal to acquire Newsweek from IAC/InterActiveCorp (NASDAQ: IACI) and The New York Times Company (NYSE: NYT), which put its Boston Globe newspaper up for sale this year, agreed to sell the Boston publication to John Henry, owner of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
