British singer Amy Winehouse husband's lawyer said Monday he is seeking a divorce on the grounds of alleged infidelity, reported The Associated Press.

I can confirm that I have been instructed to commence divorce proceedings on the grounds of Amy's adultery, explained Henri Brandman, Blake Fielder-Civil's lawyer, releasing a brief statement.

The couple married in May 2007 and Fielder-Civil was arrested six months later over an assault. In July last year, he was sentenced to 27 months in jail.

Winehouse's music has been overshadowed by her drug habit, run-ins with the law and her tempestuous marriage.
