The show began with a short ballet performance by Cory Stearns, a principal ballet dancer who was also the muse for Zang Toi’s ballet-inspired collection for Spring 2014. With a pallet of pastels and darker hues of navy and black, glamorous dresses and tailored separates sashayed down the runway at New York Fashion Week.

Toi used ballet to give his collection subtle touches of dance and movement: Hints of tulle, beading and stretch fabric evoked the classical ballet mood. The standout pieces from the collection were show-stopping gowns that moved down the runway with grace, glamour and power.

Toi, known for his attention to detail, created a collection that defined high-end fashion and that fit the female form perfectly. As the last model walked, Toi received a standing ovation from the packed crowd.
