Beyond Meat and PepsiCo announced Wednesday that “meatless jerky” will be the first product available in stores through their PLANeT Partnership.

The Beyond Meat Jerky will come in three different flavors including original, hot & spicy and teriyaki. It is made of plant-based ingredients like peas and mung beans. Each serving contains about 10g of protein and is Beyond Meat’s first shelf-stable product.

"We are thrilled to introduce the first product from Planet Partnership, our joint venture with Beyond Meat and PepsiCo," Dan Moisan, Planet Partnership CEO, said in a press release.

"The nationwide launch of Beyond Meat Jerky will make plant-based meat accessible to millions of households. It tastes great, it’s a good source of protein, and it’s convenient to eat whether you’re on the go, at the office or out on adventures," the executive added.

The two companies announced the joint venture about a year ago, making it a goal to create plant-based snacks and drinks together.

The product will also be made with no GMOs, soy or gluten. The companies said that this is the start of their goal to make products that are “better for both people and the planet.”

The PLANeT Partnership said in the release that stores nationwide will start seeing the meatless jerky in March. Some Walmart locations are expected to have availability beginning on Wednesday.
