  • Marc Jurado has been at Barcelona since he was seven
  • He has announced on social media that he is set to leave the Nou Camp side
  • He is regarded as one of the biggest prospects at Barcelona’s La Masia academy

FC Barcelona’s wonderkid Marc Jurado is set to join Manchester United as the 16-year-old has announced his Nou Camp exit on his Instagram account.

In the post, Jurado has thanked Barcelona for his development into a better player since he joined the La Liga side as a 7-year-old. While Jurado is regarded as one of the biggest prospects at Barcelona’s La Masia Academy, it has been reported that the defender has agreed Man Utd’s personal terms to join their youth academy this summer.

According to a report in the Metro, Barcelona had offered the 16-year-old right-back a long-term lucrative deal but Jurado was convinced by the Red Devils’ terms and conditions. It is believed that Man Utd will have to pay Barcelona a compensation fee since the club helped train Jurado from a young age. The fee is expected to be around $245,000.

“It’s never easy to leave a team that has given you everything. FC Barcelona has been my second home, my second family, where I have developed as a player and as a person. Today it’s time to say goodbye, but not before expressing my gratitude to each of the people who have helped me since I started in the prebenjamín in the year 2011."

"I have been lucky to share my passion with a fantastic generation, with which I will always be linked. We started as boys who just wanted to run after a ball and I say goodbye, nine years later, calling them friends,” the right-footed player wrote.

The teenager went on to acknowledge the efforts of his coaches who have helped him develop and fulfill his dreams. “Only we know the immense luck we have had with all the coaches who have developed us and helped us to keep fulfilling our dreams. Every stage has a beginning and an end. Mine, having reflected a lot with my family, has come. I leave behind unforgettable memories which will always stay with me,” added Jurado.

He is Man Utd’s third acquisition into their academy system this summer following successful deals to sign Czech Republic’s Radek Vitek and England’s 16-year-old forward Joe Hugill.
