The Washington Wizards hang around with the Spurs for the first three quarters and then stole the win on a Bradley Beal game-winner with 0.3 seconds left in the game to notch the thrilling 102-99 victory on Wednesday night.

Beal finished with a game-high 25 points on an efficient 11-of-22 field goal shooting with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. The third year shooting guard has scored at least 24 points in the first four games of the season for the Wizards, which improved to 3-1 for the year after Wednesday’s win.

The Wizards actually had a good start, leading 19-4 to open the game but the Spurs came back and grabbed the 23-22 lead at the end of the first quarter. From there, San Antonio was in control until the Wizards made a run and tied the game at 90-all with under four minutes to go in the game.

Wizards star point guard John Wall, who was responsible for setting up Beal’s game-winner, had a double-double of 17 points and 13 assists plus 4 steals. Washington also got a huge lift from Otto Porter, who had 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting and Marcin Gortat, who had 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The sorry loss snapped the Spurs’ three-game winning streak as San Antonio fell to 3-2 for the season. Kawhi Leonard led the way with 23 points and 9 rebounds but LaMarcus Aldridge struggled shooting in this game again, missing 10-of-14 shots for 10 points. Tony Parker added 17 points and Tim Duncan had 8 points and 12 rebounds.

The Wizards take their act on the road in their next two games, facing the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks Friday and Saturday, respectively while the Spurs return home Saturday to take on the Charlotte Hornets.
