Market ticks higher after Bernanke comments
U.S. stocks edged higher on Monday, taking the Dow Jones industrial average near session highs, as the U.S. dollar retreated after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke cautioned that the recovery remained fragile.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 44.51 points, or 0.43 percent, to 10,433.41. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> gained 3.34 points, or 0.30 percent, to 1,109.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 2.57 points, or 0.12 percent, to 2,196.92.
The U.S. dollar index <.DXY> was off 0.4 percent.
