“Modern Family” star Ariel Winter is feeling the pressure of being called a role model, but this doesn’t mean that she’s not enjoying being one.

While speaking with People at the premiere of “Dog Years” in New York, the actress said that she loves the term “role model.” “It’s great. But I think people put too much pressure on people to be perfect and to portray that image, when really what we should be aspiring to is having role models that should be themselves because people make mistakes. They are human, and I think that’s really important. That’s what I aim to be is just me,” she said.

Throughout the past two years, Winter has become a huge inspiration among the youth, especially those who have been struggling to fit in. In 2015, the actress confirmed that she underwent breast reduction surgery after she suffered from back pains because of the size of her bust. Winter has also been criticized for her physical appearance on social media, but she has stayed positive through it all. At present, she receives support from her older sister Shanelle Workman, her co-stars from “Modern Family,” her friends and boyfriend Levi Meaden.

During her interview, Winter also revealed the real reason why she decided to fly to China last month to be with Meaden. According to the actress, her boyfriend was in the country to film his upcoming movie. Talking about the trip, Winter shared, “We hiked up the Great Wall, which was absolutely crazy, that was amazing. We went to the Forbidden City. It was awesome,” she said.

Winter and Meaden have been dating for the past six months.
