Falling in line with soccer clubs and many individual sports, the NBA on Wednesday showed what sponsors' logos on team jerseys will look like as the league transitions to the new apparel for the 2017-18 season. The new digs were shown on the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings jerseys.

A 2.5 inch-by-2.5-inch logos will be placed on the top left corner of the jerseys, with Blue Diamond Almonds on the Kings' jersey, secondary ticket site StubHub on the Sixers' jersey and conglomerate General Electric on Boston’s jersey

ESPN's Darren Rovell sent out what the Celtics home white jerseys would like with the new logo, essentially a color scheme switch from their road green jerseys.

The move, which falls in line with the sponsorship deals of soccer teams in Europe like the English Premier League or Spain’s La Liga, comes after the NBA’s 30 owners approved the measure in April of last year. It’s scheduled to be a three-year trial and will be part of the league’s eight-year apparel deal with Nike.

The NBA said following the deal’s announcement that it could generate a minimum of $100 million annually, and that it may be getting ahead of the game over other top American leagues like the NFL, MLB and NHL.

"I think the greatest impact will be on sort of this amplifying effect of a company choosing to associate directly with a team's jersey, then going out and promoting that relationship in the larger market," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said after the deal was announced. "I think that will lead to greater engagement of our fans with these teams."

The NBA inked the Nike deal, following an 11-year run with apparel rival Adidas, in June 2015 and is reportedly worth $1 billion, an almost 245 percent increase from the previous contract with Adidas, ESPN reported. That agreement also called for Nike’s logo to adorn NBA jerseys, unlike previous contracts with Adidas and Reebok.
