  • Target is likely to restock Wednesday at 7:40 a.m. EDT, a report says
  • Walmart reportedly is expected to sell PS5s Thursday afternoon
  • More small-scale sales are expected in the future

With a little less than two weeks remaining until May ends, hopeful console buyers can still expect a few stores to start stocking up on PS5s again. Retailers across the country are still having trouble with meeting the high demand for PS5s, but small amounts are still able to find their way to shelves on physical and digital storefronts every now and then.

This week, Target and Walmart are expected to host PS5 sales as per their usual schedule from the past few months, Tech Radar’s Matt Swider reported. Unnamed sources suggested that small-scale sales are likely to be made available for those who are still looking to buy PS5s, Swider said.

To be more specific, Target is expected to restock by Wednesday. Target employees reportedly told Swider that a restock was going to happen at this date, with stores expected to start selling as early as 7:40 a.m. EDT.

Xbox Series X consoles are also expected to drop at the same time as the PS5s if the report turns out to be true.

While a PS5 normally costs between £360 and £450 ($500/$627, 420/525 euros) depending on the model, its median resale price on sites like eBay is £650-750, according to US researcher Michael Driscoll.

On the other hand, Walmart is expected to restock by Thursday at around 3 p.m. EDT. The retailer used to hold hour-long console sales despite the global shortage, but recently, it has been settling for smaller drops in the past few months, presumably because of how hard it is to get ahold of new consoles at this time.

Buyers are advised to keep their ears to the ground if they want to participate in these potential restock events. Swider noted that the latest PS5 sale held by Sam’s Club was sold out in two minutes, indicating that the buying frenzy for the new console is still active. Buyers will have to compete with the rest of the people who are still looking for a PS5.

Unfortunately, this shortage is expected to last until 2022 as the global chip shortage continues. Stores will still be selling new PS5s, but only small quantities of the console are expected per batch due to difficulties with production and acquisition.
