  • Liverpool are reportedly aiming to sign Norwich's Todd Cantwell
  • Cantwell has scored six goals so far this season
  • Liverpool are five wins away from winning their first Premier League title in 30 years

Liverpool FC reportedly are front-runners for signing Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell ahead of the summer’s transfer window.

Reports have also stated that Liverpool are looking to go after Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka but it is understood that to put off the other clubs, Gunners are most likely to offer Saka a new contract soon. Liverpool have also shown interest in Arsenal’s other player Bruno Martinelli. Both the players are teenagers and have impressed Jurgen Klopp ever since they broke into Arsenal’s senior team.

Liverpool are on the verge of defeating the Manchester duo of City and United and Tottenham Spurs in the race to sign the 21-year-old midfielder Cantwell, as reported by The Athletic. Considering Man City’s current situation with the UEFA, it looks unlikely that they will want to spend more money, whereas Spurs and Man Utd are expected to have a huge task ahead of them to fight their way to beat the Reds.

Cantwell, who is an attacking midfielder and prefers to play on the left, has gained Klopp’s interest because of his willingness to contribute toward the defensive side of the game. In the ongoing 2019-20 Premier League season, Cantwell has netted for Norwich as many as six times and is being considered a suitable replacement for Adam Lallana, who has confirmed to leave Anfield in summer in search of more playing time. Lallana will be a free agent and hence, his departure will not fetch Liverpool any money.

The Norwich midfielder, who is being considered to bring in the same technical proficiency as Lallana, has an 81.5% pass completion rate and averages 1.3 tackles per game in the league this season and those are quite impressive numbers to fit in Klopp’s game.

After 26 fixtures, Liverpool are 25 points clear on the top in the Premier League table and are five wins away from finally winning their first Premier League title in 30 years.
