Wall Street rises on oil, some earnings weigh
U.S. stocks rose on Tuesday as oil prices lifted energy shares and investors were upbeat about the overall profits recovery, even as some high-profile results fell short of lofty expectations.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 25.62 points, or 0.23 percent, at 11,117.67. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 9.68 points, or 0.81 percent, at 1,207.20. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 20.20 points, or 0.81 percent, at 2,500.31.
