A woman died from heart failure at a clinic in Singapore on Thursday, five days after receiving a Botox injection.

Lau Li Ting, 32, visited a licensed clinic for botox treatment on March 8. Ting began to shiver after she was administered with an injection. She soon became unconscious and was rushed to Singapore General Hospital where she fell into coma.

Ting’s family was informed she was in a critical state and that they were doing their best to save her. She was put on life support and died five days later.

While it was not clear on how the injection led to her death, doctors at the hospital claimed Ting’s heart had stopped beating even before she was brought there. This was not the first time that Ting had gone for Botox treatment, Chinese newspaper Lianhe Wanbao reported.

Ting, the eldest among three siblings, was a property agent. Her family members described her as jovial and independent. Ting’s death has left them devastated. Her mother said she was not drawing any conclusions and was waiting for the findings of the investigation.

Advising women to prioritize safety, her mother said, “Women are naturally vain, but safety is still above all, I hope there won’t be such another tragedy again.”

Ting’s funeral service was held Sunday.

Mizu Aesthetic, a clinic in Singapore, expressed condolences by saying, “We are all deeply saddened by the recent news about the lady who passed on after a visit to an aesthetic clinic - our hearts go out to her family and loved ones, and we only wish them peace during this difficult time.”

In a similar incident in November 2018, a woman died after receiving 16 botox injections at a clinic in Hong Kong. The doctor informed police after the woman, identified by her surname, Cheung, fell unconscious after receiving the injections. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died the following morning. The doctor first told police the woman visited the clinic for asthma treatment. However, he later admitted to having given her botox injections. Investigations revealed the woman received 16 injections to her chin, brow and jaw, World Of Buzz reported.
