Honda’s new Civic Type R is very likely to turn heads once it reaches North America next year. The Japanese manufacturer is flaunting its upcoming powerhouse at the 2016 Paris Motor Show this week and it's getting a lot of praises from car enthusiasts and reviewers.

Even though the one Honda brought to the Paris Motor Show is a prototype, the company has ensured that it is already the production-ready concept, so the actual vehicle should look the same, as per Jalopnik.

Based on its appearance at the Motor Show, the 2018 Honda Civic Type R prototype is undeniably larger than the hatch it is replacing. It is designed to have a muscular build that actually aids aerodynamic performance. It is accentuated with carbon fiber side skirts and splitter, a reflective brushed aluminum-effect finish, a sporty red accent line running the base of the exterior and a rear spoiler.

The prototype also features three tailpipes, 20-inch piano black alloy wheels outlined by the same sporty red accent line found on the exterior of the vehicle and high-performance tires. Giving it a more aggressive look, the front of the Civic Type R has smoked lenses for LED headlights and indicators.

Speaking of the new model, Honda Division of American Honda Motor Co. senior vice president and general manager Jeff Conrad said, “We promised the most ambitious, sportiest Civic lineup ever and we’re delivering on that promise with each new Civic,” as quoted by HighSnobiety.

Though its engine has yet to be known, the new Honda Civic is expected to sport a turbo 2.0-liter engine with power figures in the 300-345hp range. The official Honda Civic Type R is slated to debut at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this November, alongside a Civic Si, as confirmed by the Japanese carmaker.

Autoweek reports Honda is planning to release the new Honda Civic Type R in the spring of 2017.
