Charlie Hunnam is reportedly being sent lingerie after winning the role of Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film adaptation. E.L. James’ erotic novel thrilled readers, but not everyone was as thrilled with the casting of the “Sons of Anarchy” star as the kinky Seattle billionaire in the movie.

After a brief fan backlash, with 85,000 people apparently signing a petition to get the 33-year-old English actor out of the role, people have warmed up to the star, and some are even sending him intimate attire, according to the Daily Star via Entertainmentwise.

“We’ve seen frilly knickers, bras and even stockings left at his door by some fans of the book as they try to get his attention,” the Daily Star quoted one of Hunnam’s Los Angeles neighbors as saying. “It has been very odd. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.”

Rumors recently began to swirl that Hunnam was thinking about quitting the film after the extreme fan backlash when the casting news about him was revealed on Sept. 2. The “Sons of Anarchy” star reportedly wanted to take the role to further his career, but the backlash he got from fans most likely wasn’t what he had in mind.

“Fifty Shades” author James quietly quelled the rumor mill by posting a picture of Hunnam’s “SoA” tattooed arm, which led many to believe the actor is still on track to star in the movie. Despite its release date of next Aug. 1, the movie has not yet begun to film.

Many Hunnam fans rushed to support him after hearing actor star might leave the project, with many saying they want to see the love story incorporating bondage, discipline, and sadomasochism only because of him, which might explain the lingerie apparently being sent to the actor’s L.A. home.

It’s been rumored filming of the movie will begin next month and that the official trailer will be shown Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 2).
