A kindergarten graduation ceremony turned a little rowdy when a fight broke out, spilling onto the sidewalk.
Police say eight people were taken into custody following a fight outside Michael R.White School in Cleveland, reports WKYC-TV.
The fight happened outside the school building while the ceremony was occurring. Police say those involved may face charges of aggravated rioting.
In a statement on their website, the Cleveland Police Department said the incident began between two teenaged girls attending the kindergarten ceremony. They describe that after the fight between the two girls, "several adults then became involved."
The group began arguing earlier in the day and things turned more hostile once the individuals relocated outside the school.
Police say that earlier reports of shots fired are false. But they did retrieve a hammer and stick from the scene, neither of which "was used as a weapon during the fight." The initial gunshots report led to the school being placed on lockdown, says NBCNews.com.
No one was hurt in the incident and the graduation ceremony was not affected.
