Eight people, including a one-year-old boy, were hospitalized after unidentified persons went on a shooting spree in Oakland Monday, the Associated Press reported.

Police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said the incident happened in a West Oakland parking lot at 6 p.m.

Police said that onlookers had rushed the injured to hospital. The injured child underwent a surgery after reports indicated a possible injury on his head.

Multiple shooters were suspected as investigations revealed dozens of bullet casings at the scene of shooting. Information regarding the suspects was not available.
