The 81-year-old grandmother of an officer on Police Commissioner Ray Kelly's security detail was struck in the face by a stray bullet Wednesday as she was preparing to sit down for dinner, according to the New York Post. Agripina Camacho was shot in the cheek as a bullet pierced the window of her Brooklyn apartment.

She was putting the chain in the door when the bullet came through the window, said her son Freddie Camacho, 61. They were shooting just outside the house--the bullet came in and hit her right below her left eye on the cheek.

According to Freddie Camacho, the bullet was lodged in her cheek, though it never reached her skull. The window may have saved her life since the bullet was slowed down by the initial impact. Amanda Taylor, who lives across the hall, called 911 and tried to console the woman who seemed to be in a state of shock.

Agripina Camacho was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital where she is expected to surivive her wound. The shooter is still unknown but has been identified as a black male last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, according to a police source.
