A's starting pitcher Tyson Ross, who went 7 1/3 innings, shut out Chicago for five innings, until allowing a two-run homer in the sixth by Paul Konerko for Chicago's only runs of the game.

Oakland's Coco Crisp, Josh Willingham, and Kurt Suzuki each had two hits for the game, while reliever Grant Balfour came out of the bullpen to shut down the Chicago batters for 1 2/3 innings.
