Disney has found its Tinker Bell in the form of Reese Witherspoon. The 39-year-old actress will portray the character in “Tink” a live-action “Peter Pan” spin-off featuring the fairy character.

Witherspoon will star in and produce the film along with Bruna Papandrea, her partner at Pacific Standard, writes the Hollywood Reporter. Victoria Strouse will write the script of “Tink,” for which no director has yet been named. Strouse previously wrote the script for "Finding Dory," a sequel to the Disney film "Finding Nemo," the website added.

"Tink" will be loosely based on the narratives of “Peter Pan” but is also inspired by Disney’s 2014 movie “Maleficent,” which starred Angelina Jolie. “Maleficent” was a peripheral work derived from the original story of “Sleeping Beauty.” It focused on the story of a lesser known character of the witch, played by Jolie. Likewise “Tink's” script will also focus on the untold story of Tinker Bell.

However “Tink” will not be a big-budget film like “Maleficent,” but a “more modest, midrange budget” movie. No information is currently available on when the cast will begin shooting, or when the film will be released.

Meanwhile, various websites have happiness with the selection of Withersoon for the role. MTV writes that her “blonde hair, big blue eyes and bubbly personality” make her the perfect choice.
