‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 4 Spoilers: Episode 16 Photos, Synopsis Revealed

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is going to be set in a whole new world when the series returns. Daisy and Simmons are determined to save their friends from the fake reality of the Framework, but it looks like that will take time. The Season 4, episode 16 synopsis and photos make it clear that they women will have to live in Hydra’s world for a little while.

“Hail the New World Order!” the episode 16 synopsis teases. “Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) uncover secrets and lies in a world gone mad. With Hydra in control, they are our only hope to save everyone.”

The good news is that in order for Simmons to be discovering anything, she has to be alive. Before entering the alternate reality created by Aida (Mallory Jansen), Simmons warned that anyone who died in the Framework died in reality too. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” viewers never saw Simmons in the Framework. They only saw her gravestone. It seems she’ll be alive despite the marker.

Daisy, meanwhile, was shown looking an awful lot like her former Skye persona, and it wasn’t just because of the long hair. Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), who is alive and well, was in her bed. She got a call that the two had to head into work, and it seems like they’re probably Hydra agents together. New photos show them apparently interrogating someone.

Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), however, is living the high life while he’s unaware of the Framework. In the last cliffhanger, it looked like Fitz was getting out of a fancy car with a driver and a mysterious female. A new photo from Season 4, episode 16 makes it clear that he is no longer working for a meager S.H.I.E.L.D. salary.

These won’t be the only familiar faces in the Framework. Viewers already saw Coulson (Clark Gregg), May (Ming-Na Wen) and Mack (Henry Simmons) there as well. But it seems more characters might return. “[Director] Mace would be in there somewhere,” executive producer Jed Whedon told TVLine. He also hinted that other characters could possibly come back from the dead.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4, episode 16 returns Tuesday, April 4 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
