An Air Arabia flight from Kuwait to Sharjah, the third-largest city in the United Arab Emirates, was diverted to a military airbase in Dubai early Monday after a passenger sparked a bomb threat, the UAE's state news agency reported. The commercial jet made an emergency landing after the passenger said that the plane would explode, the Associated Press reported.

Authorities boarded the plane after it landed at al-Minhad air base, which is located on the outskirts of Dubai and is operated by UAE's air force, according to WAM news agency, which added that authorities "took the appropriate standard procedures to deal with the situation.”

Air Arabia -- a low-cost airline based in Sharjah -- has not issued a statement about the incident. No other detail about the incident was reportedly given out by authorities.
