“American Crime” Season 3 aired its final episode on Sunday night, and there are rumors suggesting that the episode could serve as the show’s series finale.

Unlike the finale episodes for “American Crime” Seasons 1 and 2, the final moments in Season 3 offered more closure. In the episode, Gabrielle (Mickaella X. Bizet) was at the hospital recovering from abuse. The detective calls Clair (Amanda Garza) in to ask about Gabrielle’s bruises, most of which were found on her back. Clair tried to make it seem as though Gabrielle hurt herself when the truth is, she was responsible for hurting her. At this point, the detective brought out a letter that was written by Gabrielle to her son where she detailed the abuse she’s been receiving from Clair and her family. In the end, Clair decided to man up to what she did because she also grew up being abused and was very apologetic for hurting Gabrielle.

Elsewhere, Dustin (Kurt Krause) called Kimara (Regina King) and told her that she wants to talk to the authorities about Shae (Ana Mulvoy Ten). Dustin revealed that Shae was killed, and Kimara went straight to the morgue to confirm the news. Kimara also had the chance to see Dustin at the morgue, but the latter was immediately arrested for being an accessory in Shae’s murder. It was later on revealed that Dustin will only get a year in jail, and this threw Kimara off. She decided to leave her post and reached out to Abby (Sandra Oh) to tell her that she’s interested in working for her.

Meanwhile, Jeannette (Felicity Huffman) went back to her husband after she found out that Raelyn (Janel Moloney) has been sent to jail for failing her drug test. Jeannette told Carson (Dallas Roberts) that she wants things to go back to how they were before she left him, but Carson knows for sure that Jeannette is not telling him the truth. Carson reached out to his sister, Laurie Ann (Cherry Jones), and informed her that Jeannette wants Raelyn’s two daughters to live with them. Unfortunately, Laurie Ann wasn’t very supportive because Jeannette and Carson already put the Hesby family through so much.

Towards the end of the episode, the three different stories ended up in the same place, which was in the courtroom. Everyone also received the justice that they deserved.

As of late, ABC has not yet confirmed whether or not “American Crime” will be renewed for Season 4. But the season finale heightened speculations that Season 3 could be the last for the series. Just last week, the network renewed a number of its popular shows, but “American Crime” did not make the cut. TVByTheNumbers is also predicting the cancellation of the series based on its ratings. An average of 1.91 million viewers tune in to “American Crime” on a per episode basis. This gives the show a 0.39 rating, which is relatively smaller compared to several other TV shows under the ABC network.
