American Horror Story Coven
"American Horror Story: Coven" premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. FX

It’s finally here! After a long wait, the highly anticipated new season of “American Horror Story” is set to premiere on FX on Wednesday night.

Heading into its third year, the mini-series explores a new terrifying tale each season. In season 1 viewers were introduced to the Harmon family in the spooky L.A. Murder House. Season 2 explored what chilling acts occurred behind the walls of a 1960s insane institution in “Asylum.” Now, season 3 will find fans in the middle of an old rivalry between Salem witches and Voodoo priestesses in “Coven.”

In “Bitchcraft,” the season 3 premiere of “Coven,” viewers will be treated to a flashback to 1834 New Orleans. The flashback will introduce Madame LaLaurie (Kathy Bates), a woman who not only mutilated her slaves, but “bathed in the blood of others in an attempt to stay young.”

Then modern-day Orlando, Fla., teenager Zoe Benson (Taissa Farmiga) learns in a “terribly horrific way” that she’s a descendant from Salem witches. Shipped off to Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies in New Orleans, Zoe will meet others like her … and learn how to protect herself from those that still want to burn witches at the stake.

You can watch the season 3 premiere of “American Horror Story” at 10 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, but in the meantime check out the string of intense and chilling “Coven” promo videos:
