Celebrity fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander, 35 was sentenced to a minimum of 59 years in prison on Monday for sexual assaulting aspiring models, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

He began his career as a fashion designer launching his first line at New York Fashion Week in 1999. The now convicted rapist boasted of clothing he designed for high profile celebrities including Paris Hilton and her sister Nicky Hilton, Mary J Blige, Janet Jackson and Bruce Springsteen.

He left behind a series of collections which according to his website ended with a Spring Summer 2007 collection before his arrest in November 2007.

Alexander appeared once in the TV show America's Next Top Model and was selected by Newsweek magazine as one of the world's most successful South Asians in 2004.
